Arp "In Light
This album really soothes me, mainly because it's got such smooth synths. It's one of the most positive electronic albums I've ever heard.

WZT Hearts - Threads Rope Spell Making Your Bones
This is my favorite noise album of the year. It is so intensely powerful and just wildly overwhelming. I love it and the sonic vortex it creates.

Terje Isungset - Igloo
This album is so beautiful, an ambient icefest. It is another incredibly soothing work that never feels old.

Sufjan Stevens - Enjoy Your Rabbit
This is a lesser known Sufjan Stevens album, but I think it's definitely one of his best. It's noisy but soft and sweet and just makes me happy all around!

Friendsound - Joyride
This album is just such a fun psych fest, mostly focusing on vocal samples and just mainstream psych influences.

Eric Copeland - Hermaphrodite
This album has been getting play after play for me, being whisked away by the inviting sounds of an unsymphony played by eric copeland, a (clearly most contributing) member of black dice. if you like black dice's stuff, then this will be nothing but another fantastic sound frenzy from the impoverished of brooklyn. sink in.

Chromatics - IV
This is a smooth italian delight from two brooklyners, one of which is in glass candy, another fantastic group on the label 'italians do it better', a label for dark smooth soul pop-pushers. this album had its highs and lows turned into mids and mid is very bleak. this bleakness should detract from the possible pleasure the music gives but in this case, the bleakness is the leading light through a world of confusion and lost opportunities that we all know so well. it moves one to tears, and many times to laughter, but never leaves that bleak feeling bleak; it transforms bleak into worlds you've never examined before and that you will surely enjoy. clearly, i felt greatly for this album and think it has and will always have a strong importance in my life. I hope you enjoy it.

DDAA/HNAS - Electrip 7"
This one's just a full-out creepfest. Creepy, however, has never been so enchanting. reminds you of those times you imagine being lost in caves and taken over by little cave gnomes who reveal this amazing new world that lives inside the earth and you find out that they, in fact, created the earth and are using it to get home on our pride. but the band knows even more than that and tugs your vulnerable spots and places bags of oranges in the air. in other words, it's worth spending the 11 minutes.

This post is a course in online downloading for those who don't know to already
Let's start by talking about what it is exactly that you will be downloading.
You will be downloading two different types of files: ZIP and RAR.
Both of these file types exist to compress and compile multiple files. When clicking these links and downloading the one file for each album, you will need to have the right software to be able to "unzip" these files, so as to separate the songs and be able to listen to them. The most common programs used for this are WinRAR and WinZip. I would recommend WinRAR, as I feel it is the most user-friendly of the two. You can download a trial for WinRAR here. Since I have the full version, I'm not sure how much you will be able to use the program before the trial expires. Let me know if there are any problems with it and I'll find another program.
This is the order you should follow during this tutorial:
1. Install WinRAR
2. Download the files(I will run through how to do this next)
3. Unzip the files with WinRAR.
Let's start by downloading these files:
Start by clicking the link I have saying "here" for, say, New Music 78/79.
Once you click the link, you should arrive at the above page. Click Megaupload
It will take you to this page:
It will ask you to put three letters in the circled box, and once you do, click the circled "Download".
You will then arrive at the following page:
It will ask you to wait 45 seconds.
Once you've waited that long, that box will turn into this:
Click "Free download".
The following window will pop up:
Click "Save to Disk", and choose where you would like to have it saved. The easiest place to save it would be your desktop.
All of the other files can be downloaded in the same fashion, however I will now show you how to download from rapidshare, where Entheogens and the other files are hosted. I don't suggest downloading strictly from Rapidshare, however, because they only allow one download per 2 hours. Download Entheogens from rapidshare, and then download the rest from Megaupload.
If you click my link for Entheogens, you will arrive at the following page:
Click the circled "Free", and you will arrive at this page:
There will be several links, all beginning with "Download via" and then the name of a server which is located somewhere ON THE PLANET. I find that TeliaSonera's servers are fastest for me, but the truth is that all of them will download at a reasonable speed. Once you click one of them, make sure you click "Save to Disk" and save it to your desktop.
Finally I will show you how to download from MassMirror, which is where the rest of the albums are posted.
Once you click the link for the Daniel Johnston and Jad Fair, Lichens, and David Holmes albums, you'll arrive at this page:
I have circled megaupload's download link because I think it is the easiest and fastest, however any of the other links should work just fine, but when you get to the other pages, a lot of times it's very busy and tough to tell where you're supposed to click to download the file.
Click Megaupload and follow the directions I have earlier in this post for downloading from Megaupload.
Once you've downloaded all of the RARs, the albums, you will have them all sitting on your desktop and, assuming you installed WinRAR correctly, they will all have an icon that is a stack of books. Double-click the first one you'd like to unzip, and you will see something similar to this:
You'll see the WinRAR window with one folder inside of it. As illustrated, take the folder and drag it to your desktop to somewhere that is blank. In doing so, you will tell WinRAR to unzip the folder so that you can use it.
This should appear:
It's completely normal. All it's doing is unzipping(decompressing) the files, and putting them into a usable format. This should only last 10-20 seconds.
And then you've got the albums! If you use iTunes, you can put the songs into your library by highlighting all of the music files in the folder and dragging them into the library. Before doing this, however, I suggest you go into the iTunes preferences and in the first window that pops up make sure that "copy music into file folders" is checked. Once you copy the music into your library, you can delete both the RAR/ZIP file and the folder that you unzipped. However, if you're not using iTunes, do not delete the unzipped folder as it is the only thing keeping the music on your computer.
I hope that this tutorial has been helpful and not too confusing. Let me know if you have any more questions.

This album is a few performance art pieces and several very artful musical pieces. A truly fascinating album to see what was happening in the art music world in the late 70s.

This album is really a fantastic psychedelic experience. It's a few live recordings of this Swedish band, and they really have an energy that spreads to anyone listening.
